Even great ideas fall flat if they’re delivered the wrong way. When communication doesn’t land:

  • Audiences tune out or miss the point
  • Misalignment slows decision-making
  • Frustration builds on both sides

Cost to the business?

Work gets misinterpreted, priorities get misunderstood, and momentum stalls. When people can’t communicate clearly across different styles, trust erodes, and valuable ideas never take off.

What's missing?

A way to shape your message so it aligns with how others process information, and a way to compress your message so it captures limited attention.

In short, the ability to adjust your communication to your audience.

About this workshop

Participants will learn how to flex their communication for different audiences, especially when influence matters but authority is limited. By understanding thinking preferences and practicing message compression, they’ll increase their ability to land messages with clarity, empathy, and impact.

Skills you'll improve

Agenda

1 - Frame the Problem

We’ll start with a relatable moment, a short clip or scenario where good intentions go awry.

2 - Thinking Preferences

You’ll learn a simple but powerful framework, the Whole Brain Thinking model, to map different thinking preferences. We’ll explore what each style values and how that shapes the way people listen, decide, and engage.

3 - Adapting Communication

Using a case study, you’ll work in small groups to practice adjusting your communication to drive action. You’ll experiment with what to emphasize, what to simplify, and how to speak to different needs.

4 - The Illusion of Transparency

We’ll unpack the cognitive bias that makes us think we’re being clear when we’re not and learn how to close the gap between intention and impact.

5 - Compressing Communication

You’ll learn a powerful formula to lead with the bottom line up front and frame your message around what matters most to your audience. This quick hook draws people into your thinking and invites further exploration—it’s how you get your point of view noticed and the conversation started.

6 - Reflect & Commit

We’ll close by reflecting on what you learned and how your communication landed. You’ll leave with a personal takeaway, plus a prompt to bring your manager into the loop and get feedback on how your message is being received.

Frequently Asked Questions

The program is built to be virtual first, delivering a Zoom experience like you’ve never experienced before. But individual sessions can be delivered in person.

All our programs have a minimum level of customization by our team of strategy and learning consultants. We can discuss deeper customization in our discovery calls.

We see the most success with a cross-functional audience of experienced individual contributors transitioning to leadership and new leaders.

The core challenge of leadership is not having all the answers. It’s having the right questions. This mindset is at the heart of problem-solving. We teach new and aspiring leaders how to synthesize multiple perspectives into a strategic narrative and communicate clearly to diverse stakeholders.
